The Apartment of the Future?

The phrase "Apartment of the Future" has been worn to death since I started in this business back in 1994. The vision we present as an industry rarely lives up to the hype.

In the middle of last year we started to think about how we might be able to produce a project under this name...and do it justice. After many months of discussion, false starts and searching for the right partners we have finally charted a clear course to achieving this goal.

It is undeniable that the multifamily housing industry is blessed by some dramatic tailwinds and the promise of a huge new customer demographic known as Generation Y. We all read the headlines daily but rarely does anyone formally connect the dots and show us what this will mean for renters, apartment owners and industry vendors.

In May of this year we will officially launch a website that will profile Multifamily Executive's 2012 Concept Community. On October 8, 2012 we will deliver a formal print report detailing our findings at our annual conference in Las Vegas.

We are pleased to announce formal partnerships with Avalon Bay Communities, KTGY Architects and J Turner Research to bring this concept forward. Along the way we hope to gather a wide variety of ideas and best practices from all of our readers, sponsors, friends and colleagues. We recognize that the Apartment of the Future is not one boiler plate solution...there are countless ways to build, manage, market and customize a community.

Savvy owners and developers recognize that the American Dream of Homeownership is not dead. As an industry we need to make the most of the window of opportunity that is upon us and help spread the word of what the best of the best are doing to be proactive about the future of rental housing.

We are looking for a limited number of sponsors to partner with on this project as well. Sponsors will have access to extensive promotion (print+online+conference) and exclusive access to the highly qualified leads that this project will generate.

Please call me if you have an interest in getting a prospectus or shoot me a note at rbritt at hanleywood.com

Stay tuned!

Now days I am eagerly planning to buy an apartment for my personal residence. It is not an easy job though to find one at cheaper price, but it can be tried.
